Sandra Moloney moved to Essex 26 years ago. In 1988 she opened Special Occasions bridal, local residents were quick to tell her that it would never work, but after 22 years of hard work and determination, she proved them to be wrong and grew to become the largest bridal shop in Essex.
In 1989 Sandra organised one of the first bridal exhibitions in the UK. A 2 day event, that included 10 catwalk shows, Brought together over 150 businesses. With over 4000 visitors and national press coverage, no one can argue that it was both successful and innovative. Since then spurred on by its success, Sandra has organised many events both for her business and for local charities. From music festivals to street parties, sandra truely believes that with hard work and determination, anything is acheivable.
In July 2007 Sandra was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ever the optomist, Sandra carried on with life as normal. She had her tumour removed on a friday and was back to work the following monday.
2 and a half years later, Sandra decided that it was about time to "do her bit" and raise as much money as possible for breakthhrough breast cancer. After brainstorming many ideas she decided to stick to what she knows best and organise a fashion based event. In her own words "id love to participate in the race for life, or even the London marathon, but, not being the fittest of people, it would take me years of training, so its best i raise money in another way!".
So the Essex fashion awards was born. An awards night reconising the success of both independant and multiple retail stores. finding the next new face in the modeling world and helping the next generation of fashion world by hunting down new designer talent.
Sandra is hoping to raise in excess of £20,000 within the next 6 months for breakthrough breast cancer .
Following her successful career and past charity events we dont doubt for a minute that she wont achieve her goal
